Annual Newsletter – Spring, 2017

Greetings White Otter Members, former members and prospective members!  With  the eagerly anticipated

arrival of spring finally upon us, it is time for White Otter to come out of hibernation and remind you that  our new membership year will start with the annual meeting and election of officers on Friday, June 2.  Prior to that, we will have a regular meeting on Monday, May 1.  All meetings start at 7:30 p.m.  We hope many of you will be able to join us and be an active part in our efforts to serve this area.

Annual dues remain at $5.00  for 2017-18 and, if you send us $6.00, the extra buck will be sent to the New York State Conservation Council, a major advocate for sportsmen.  We have new club patches available for $5.00 that will dress up your shirt or jacket.  A newly designed WOF&G pin goes with your membership.  We do not mail them but you can get one at any club activity.  Our membership card for the coming year is included with this newsletter.  If you are paid up, we would still appreciate receiving the small side of the card back to help us keep track of our numbers.  Those on our data base who did not pay their dues last year will

be dropped from our membership list if we do not hear from them this time around.

Much pickup and maintenance work needs to be done to the clubhouse, surrounding grounds and the range.

Anyone willing to pitch in and help in this effort is encouraged to either come to a scheduled work party or contact President Jack Adams at (315) 392-2203.  Organized maintenance and pickup days will be announced

in area newspapers,  email to those who have given us an address or on our website -  www.white-otter.com.

Speaking of the range, the snow on the driveway in is now gone.  Beware of soft ground if you drive in there.  Also, remember to put up the warning flag while there and PLEASE use clothespins to fasten the targets to the chicken wire and do not shoot at the posts.  Do not enter the grounds after dark.

Thanks to those who supported our club raffle last fall, we are sponsoring three young people to attend a DEC

environmental camp this summer.  Last fall, a young lady we sent in 2016 came to a club meeting to thank us and tell about her experiences there.

Club director Robert Scheehl oversees the use of the clubhouse by groups, families, etc. and can be reached for rental information at (315) 358-4218.

Vice president Dan Gilmore maintains our www.white-otter.com website and members are encouraged to check it regularly for meeting minutes, upcoming events and other items of note.

This year’s harvest supper and raffle drawing will be Saturday, November 4.  Watch for publicity on this festive event as the time gets closer.  Help in putting on this endeavor is always needed and appreciated.

We wish you the best in the coming year, mourn the loss of those who have passed on since our last news-letter and look forward to another great year of serving outdoor interests in the Town of Forestport.  Check out the back of this notice for a listing of many White Otter and other area events during the coming months.

President Jack Adams, Vice President and Range Officer Dan Gilmore,

Secretary Alan Woodruff, Treasurer Lou Azzarito, Directors  Karen Marshall and

Bob Scheehl, and Nominations Chair Tom Abrial
