WOFG Business meeting May 7, 2018

Called to order by President Jack Adams at 19:24

In the Secretary's absence Tom Abrial read the minutes November 6, 2017 as written by Spike.  Motion to accept the minutes as read by Jack Adams, all in favor with none opposed.

Treasurer Lou Azzarito read his treasurers report for November 6, 2017.   Motion to approve made by Jack Adams, all in favor with none opposed.

Communications - none

Old Business

Jack asked for committee reports.

Siding bids.  There was not a committee set up for the vinyl siding project, it was just decided to get bids and then decide on the winner.  One bid was submitted but not opened.  There is no closing date for the bids, and a set of specs needs to be defined to make sure everyone is bidding on the same work.  For example, should foam backer boards be installed to help the siding lay flat, should the porch ceilings be covered by soffit, etc?  Jack said the siding project was initiated to keep the wood siding from rotting any further.  Louie asked where the money is coming from because he has $8,000 in checking and $4,000 in savings.

A bow safety course will be taught in July or August.

Gun range committee report. The range needs to be cleaned up, but the road held up good through the winter.  Bob Scheehl reported that a lot of small trees needs to be trimmed back.  Jack said it worked out well when they cleaned it before the monthly meeting last year.  The annual meeting is June 1stat 7pm, and the cleanup will be scheduled to occur before the July monthly meeting.

Discussion was held to change the by-laws to hold the annual meeting on the first Monday of June to keep in line with the other monthly meetings.  The by-laws currently require the meeting to be held on a Friday.

The gun raffle was briefly discussed.  Lou will find out where the tickets were printed.  A member asked why we couldn't offer a rifle instead of a muzzle loader.  President Jack said the restrictions are so tight now due to the SAFE Act that it isn't practical.  Rifles can't be displayed in bars, and the display definitely helps sales.  Jack made a motion to raffle the same gun as last year, all in favor none opposed.

Dan Gilmore said the monies raised by the raffle are used to send kids to DEC camp.  We put in enough money in January for 4 but we sent only 3 so we have $350 credit.  Louie sent $1400 this year.   Signup is in March, and firm commitments are needed because we will lose the money if someone is signed up but they do not attend for whatever reason.

Karen Marshall has donated $500 to upgrade the ladies room by adding a door, replacing the toilets, providing better handicap access and increased privacy.  She also wants to foo foo it up and make it smell nice and pretty.  Jack would like to wait until she comes up in June to make sure anything we do is in keeping with what she has in mind.

New business.

Spike would like to teach fishing courses at Camp Nazareth this summer.  He would like the certificates issued by WOFG similar to those in past years.  Mike Smith made a motion to spend $80 for printing the 200 certificates, seconded by Jack, all in favor.

Bob Scheehl would like to straighten out the membership list.  It was decided to wait until Spike is present.

Discussion turned to the nominating committee that should have been formed in November.  It was decided to keep the same nominating committee as last year.  The committee shall interview candidates and submit the names for election.  Jack nominated Tom Abrial as the nominating committee.  Tom asked the officers present is they wished to run again, with all saying in unison that it is their lifelong dream to continue in office.  Other nominations will be accepted from the floor at the June meeting.

Our insurance went up $1713 this year, $1665 last year.

Meeting adjourned 2015 hours.

Respectfully submitted,

Tom Abrial, (member filling in for Spike)
